Desk days, driving, and lifts that leave the low back stiff by evening.
Ache that tracks with sitting, bending, or a heavy day on your feet.
Morning tightness or a back that will not loosen with stretching alone.
Pain that eased, then came back the next time you lifted or sat long.
Low back pain here is usually mechanical: a stiff joint, loaded disc, or muscle that keeps guarding. The exam decides the tool. An adjustment restores motion when a joint is restricted. Decompression unloads disc pressure when sitting or bending is the trigger. Soft-tissue work and rehab are added so the change holds after you stand up.
Not every visit uses every tool. First physical medicine visits are about 90 minutes. Follow-ups are about 30–45 minutes. Serving Madison, DeForest, Sun Prairie, and Middleton from Waunakee. We are out of network and accept credit cards, HSA, and FSA.
The first visit is a history and an exam, not a preset adjustment. We ask what sitting, lifting, driving, or sleep does to the pain, and whether it stays in the back or travels. Then we watch how you bend, stand, and load the low back. A stiff joint, a loaded disc, and a guarding muscle can look similar in the waiting room and need different tools.
If the joint is restricted, chiropractic care can restore motion that day. If sitting and bending are the trigger, spinal decompression may unload the disc. Myofascial release is used when the tissue will not let the joint move. Active rehab is the piece that keeps the change: a few drills so the next lift or desk day does not reload the same spot. Not every tool is used on visit one.

No. An adjustment is used when the exam supports it. Some visits are decompression, soft tissue, or rehab.
No. It is controlled traction to unload the low back, not a surgical procedure.
Some people notice easier motion after a visit. A flare that keeps returning usually needs follow-up and rehab, not one treatment.
