A hip that feels tighter on one side after lifting or sleep.

How Kee Health treats hip and SI pain

Hip pain and SI joint pain get mixed together because they sit next to each other. The SI joint is the link between the sacrum and the pelvis. It can feel stuck when you stand up from a chair, roll over in bed, or load one leg. True hip-joint pain is often deeper in the groin with walking or rotation. A tight glute or piriformis can mimic both. The exam is what separates them.

Chiropractic care is used when the SI joint or a related lumbar joint is restricted. Myofascial release is for the glute, hip flexor, or lateral hip tissue that will not let the joint move. Active rehab rebuilds the one-sided control so the same joint is not reloaded the next time you sit or climb stairs. Those can share a physical medicine visit. None of them is automatic.

Leg pain that travels below the knee may be sciatica rather than the hip. That pattern is on the sciatica page. This is not a surgical hip clinic. A hip that locks after a fall, or groin pain with fever or a sudden inability to bear weight, needs a medical check first.

What a first visit looks like

Plan on about 90 minutes for a new physical medicine visit. Follow-ups are about 30–45 minutes. We ask where the pain sits, whether sitting or walking makes it worse, and whether it stays in the hip or travels down the leg. Then we watch how you stand, hinge, and load one side. A stuck SI joint, a stiff hip, and a guarding glute can feel the same in the waiting room.

Treatment that day follows the findings. Some visits restore SI motion. Some release the lateral hip before the joint will move. Some add a short drill so the next sit does not undo the visit. You should leave knowing which of those it was. Care is in Waunakee, serving Madison and Dane County. New patients call to schedule. We are out of network and accept credit cards, HSA, and FSA.

Questions

Is hip pain the same as SI joint pain?

Not always. SI pain often sits beside the tailbone. Hip-joint pain is often deeper in the groin. The exam sorts that out.

Do I need a referral?

No. New patients call to schedule the first visit.

Is every visit an adjustment?

No. Chiropractic care is used when the SI or a related joint is restricted. Some visits are soft tissue or rehab.

Can this be sciatica instead?

It can if the pain travels down the leg. We check that pattern before calling it a hip problem.
