How Kee Health treats plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is irritation of the band under the foot, usually where it meets the heel. The classic sign is pain with the first steps after rest. Standing, hard floors, a sudden jump in walking, or a calf that will not lengthen can keep it angry. Treating only the sore heel often misses the calf and the way the foot loads.

Dry needling is used when a calf or foot trigger point is part of the pain. Myofascial release works on the calf and plantar tissue that stay stuck. Active rehab rebuilds calf and foot control so the band is not the only thing taking the step. Those can share a physical medicine visit. None of them is automatic, and this is not a claim that one visit settles a heel that has hurt for months.

Heel pain after a fall, swelling, or pain that is worse at night and not with the first steps can be a different problem. Get that checked medically before a routine visit. Care is in Waunakee for Madison, Sun Prairie, DeForest, Middleton, and Dane County.

What a first visit looks like

Plan on about 90 minutes for a new physical medicine visit. Follow-ups are about 30–45 minutes. We ask when the heel hurts, what shoes and standing time look like, and whether the calf has been tight for longer than the heel. Then we find the tender spot and check ankle and calf motion. A heel that only hurts at rest, or a foot that is numb, changes the plan.

Treatment that day follows the findings. Some visits needle the calf band that keeps loading the heel. Some are soft-tissue work and a short loading drill. Soreness for a day after needling is common. We talk through that first. New patients call to schedule. We are out of network and accept credit cards, HSA, and FSA.

Questions

Is morning heel pain always plantar fasciitis?

It is the classic pattern. Other heel problems exist. The exam checks the spot, the calf, and how you step.

Do I need a referral?

No. New patients call to schedule the first visit.

Is dry needling used every visit?

No. It is used when a calf or foot trigger point is part of the pain. It is not acupuncture.

Will one visit fix it?

Usually not if the heel has been irritated for months. Follow-up and a change in standing or calf load are part of the plan.
